Gender stereotypes and gendered practices
The extra-curriculum interdisciplinary seminar for the students and postgraduates of Novosibirsk State University.
It was started as a master class in English in 1994 under the name of «Sex and Gender» and was held together with S. Lindemann.
The outline below was compliled in the framework of the project «Prophyllaxy of Sexism Among Youth» supported by the MacArthur Foundation. The seminar was held during a year and a half every week of the academic year and included presentations by T. Barchunova, participants of the Seminar and invited lecturers.
Two topics were not covered (pornography and prostitution).
Besides the books and papers indicated in the reading list the papers from the Russian feminist and sociological periodics were used.
Since then the outline was not updated (besides the book by I. Kon which was used in its English version first).
